NRMA Ditches 16 Unreliable Tritium Chargers for SINEXCEL, starting at Holbrook and Jugiong

Go EV Managing Director Mark Lampard has revealed that The National Roads and Motorists' Association (NRMA) has commenced the modernization of its electric vehicle charging infrastructure with the installation of its first SINEXCEL charger.

The first new NRMA dual CCS2 SINEXCEL charger unit has replaced an aging CCS+CHAdeMO Tritium charger at the HMAS Otway Submarine Park in Holbrook, NSW.

"Out with the old and in with the new," stated Lampard, highlighting that the upgrade was completed just in time for the Easter long weekend.

The timely installation ensured that EV travelers along the Hume Highway had access to a new reliable charging location during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

This installation marks the beginning of a significant infrastructure upgrade for the NRMA.

According to Lampard, it represents the first of 16 SINEXCEL chargers scheduled to be used as replacements across 14 existing sites in the NRMA charging network, which should substantially improve EV charger reliability at these locations.

The NRMA's Jugiong location has been identified as the next site slated for charger replacement.

Contractors from Detlevs Electrical have advised that the Jugiong charger is "currently undergoing an upgrade to improve performance and reliability" and is temporarily offline with an estimated recommissioning date of Friday, April 25th 2025.

Lampard expressed optimism about the NRMA charging network improvements, stating that he "looks forward to many years of reliable charging ahead" and is eager to visit the upgraded sites in the near future.

The transition from Tritium to SINEXCEL technology appears to be a strategic move by the NRMA to address reliability issues that had plagued many of their older Tritium charging stations.

These charger replacements by the NRMA come at a critical time for Australia's electric vehicle infrastructure as new EV sales create increased demand for dependable charging networks across both urban and regional areas.
